OVERVIEW
Alex D. Corey concentrates his practice in all facets of complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy, construction litigation, trademark litigation and related matters. His litigation practice extends to a variety of arbitration disputes and government investigatory matters. He has represented Fortune 500 companies and major financial institutions in complex state, federal, and bankruptcy litigations, as well as white collar criminal investigations involving matters of insider trading, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and investigations pertaining to subprime mortgages, credit default swaps, and foreign exchange rates. As a litigator, he specializes in litigating transactional disputes, intellectual property infringement claims, construction claims, and real estate disputes. He also has experience representing companies before arbitrational panels, including the American Arbitration Association, FINRA, and the International Chamber of Commerce.
Alex has achieved favorable results for clients involved in state business dispute litigations, federal trade secret litigations, FINRA arbitrations, state construction litigations, SEC insider trading investigations, federal bankruptcy litigations, corporate governance dispute litigations, real estate litigations, and federal copyright litigations. He has also handled numerous internal investigations for clients ranging from financial institutions to non-profits.
He has experience in all stages of litigation, including commencing actions and drafting pleadings, seeking emergency judicial intervention, engaging in discovery, including managing large e-discovery projects, drafting and arguing substantive and procedural motions, taking and defending depositions, and drafting complex settlement agreements in multi-million-dollar class action disputes. Alex also has substantial appellate briefing experience.
He has also provided pro bono legal services for low-income and socially vulnerable clients, including counseling non-profits on trademark registration, representing women seeking permanent residency in the United States under the Violence Against Women Act, and successfully representing disabled individuals seeking social security disability benefits before administrative law judges.
