White and Williams Joins Ford Motor Company’s Legal Alliance for Women in a Global Day of Service
On Thursday, September 26, more than 25 lawyers and staff volunteered in Boston and Wilmington as part of Ford’s Second Annual Global Day of Service. Global Day of Service is a worldwide initiative spearheaded by Ford Motor Company’s Legal Alliance for Women (LAW), the company’s professional organization focused on women in the legal practice. The coordinated global effort assists organizations supporting the empowerment and well-being of women and girls in their respective communities.
The focus of the 2019 Ford LAW Global Day of Service was to help community organizations that are assisting women and girls through educational, empowerment and support programs. Bringing together volunteers from more than eight countries, this day of service is a collective effort to give back to the communities Ford and its partners operate in.
The Boston office volunteered at Women’s Lunch Place, a day shelter community that provides a safe, comfortable space, nutritious food, and additional services for women who are experiencing homelessness or poverty. As a part of the Healthy Meals Program, volunteers worked in the kitchen to prepare meals for the ladies visiting the shelter. Volunteers also served breakfast, prepped food for the next day, and helped clean the kitchen and dining room.
In Wilmington, volunteers visited the Friendship House, a non-profit, faith-based corporation in service to those individuals and families that are or are at risk of becoming homeless. Volunteers assisted with the Friendship House Clothing Bank, which houses the women work-study program. Volunteers helped with sorting, folding and hanging clothing for redistribution back into the community.
“Through this day of service, we are aiming to marshal the collective efforts of our partners in the legal profession around world to give back to the community,” said Beth Rose, Chief Compliance, Ethics, and Integrity Officer at Ford Motor Company and chairperson of Ford’s Legal Alliance for Women. “The passion we share in advocating for and serving our communities extends beyond this one day. It is part of who we are as individuals and drives our community service year round.”
“White and Williams is proud to be a part of Ford’s Global Day of Service. The opportunity to join with colleagues to donate our time to the communities in which we live and work is invaluable,” said partner, Rochelle Gumapac, who spearheaded White and Williams’ involvement in the initiative.
