Negligent Installation Claim Leads to Seven-Figure Settlement

The Subrogation Department was recently involved in a case against the installer of a sauna heater. The plaintiff alleged, among other things, that improper installation of the sauna heater caused a fire that damaged the building where the sauna heater was located.

Although they realized that the case had difficult proof theories of liability, Partner Bill Schmidt and Counsel Joe Kuffler aggressively moved the case forward. Ultimately, the parties agreed to mediate the matter. At the mediation, Bill and Joe were able to settle the case for seven figures.
