Pennsylvania Waiver Granted for Ghost Robotics Amidst COVID-19-Related Closures

3.25.20

White and Williams successfully received a waiver to continue operations on behalf of Ghost Robotics, a Philadelphia company that designs and manufactures legged robots. On March 19, 2020, Governor Wolf ordered all non-life-sustaining businesses in Pennsylvania, except those in specifically exempted categories, to cease operations. Working with our client, our attorneys identified several exemption categories our client satisfies and prepared a waiver application. In that application, we highlighted our client’s defense work for the U.S. Government, which continues to operate throughout the shutdown for national security and public safety reasons. In the application, our client proposed having a limited number of staff on-site to perform certain mission-critical functions, such as manufacturing and repair, that could not be done remotely. Within 48 hours of our request, our client received a letter from Governor Wolf’s office granting the request and had staff back at work.

Frank Bruno represented Ghost Robotics in this matter.
