Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Course
The Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony course teaches fire investigators seeking IAAI-CFI certification what it’s like to testify as an expert witness in a real case. The instructing attorneys provide an overview of the legal system, court rules, case law and process for qualifying as an expert witness. Fire investigators meet with the instructing attorneys to examine their curriculum vitae and develop a testimony plan and exhibits for use in a mock trial, which is based around a hypothetical case involving a fire.
The course concludes with each investigator presenting expert testimony and being cross examined by attorneys in a real courtroom, offering fire investigators the opportunity to understand the significant task of preparing for court and testifying in a courtroom with practicing attorneys.
