OVERVIEW

Mark Paladino has a wide-ranging practice that focuses on first-party and third-party insurance coverage and appeals. His extensive experience investigating and litigating high-exposure personal injury matters and contractual disputes provides him with a unique and informed perspective on insurance coverage and appellate issues. 

Mark’s practice has included litigating catastrophic injury and wrongful death actions in various areas of tort liability, including motor vehicle liability, premises liability, and professional liability.  He has also defended a variety of complex matters, including life, health and disability insurance, coverage claims, bad faith and extracontractual damages claims. Additionally, Mark has a background in appellate practice and has considerable experience in briefing many multifaceted and developing legal principles. The scope of his practice has allowed Mark to develop an expansive knowledge on an array of critical insurance issues and has afforded him the opportunity to draft and construe sophisticated contractual provisions.

Mark believes that thoughtful and meticulous investigation is critical to properly assessing a claim and its underlying issues. Due to the breadth of his legal acumen, Mark is frequently called out to active accident scenes or post-loss investigations, during which he regularly interfaces with governmental investigatory agencies and works to identify and preserve crucial evidence. This type of proactive approach maximizes the ability to analyze a claim and any attendant issues, whether they relate to a potential coverage determination or a request for defense in a tort or contract action. 

Prior to starting at White and Williams, Mark served as a judicial intern in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas for the Honorable Matthew D. Carrafiello. In law school, Mark was a Beasley Scholar and recipient of the Jack M. Golden and Frieda Golden Prize for superior legal writing in the area of healthcare and health administration. He was also a member of the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review and Secretary of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society.

Mark is a Co-Chair of the firm’s Associate Development Committee and Chair of the firm’s Associate Recruitment Committee. He is an active volunteer for the Philadelphia Homeless Advocacy Project, working to assist those in need of pro bono legal services that can include handling social security disability hearings, obtaining valid identification documents, and assisting in securing housing.

Since 2015, Mark has been selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers.  He is a frequent presenter at the firm’s annual Coverage College and has also presented to companies regarding the importance of and strategies for proper and effective critical incident investigation.

Mark has previously served as manager of the firm’s softball team, and currently serves as manager of a local children’s travel softball team.  He is an avid proponent of autism awareness and regularly participates in the annual Eagles Autism Challenge along with various other members of the firm.
