13th Annual Coverage College Hosts Over 400 Insurance Professionals
White and Williams' Coverage College welcomed over 400 students on October 24, 2019 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. For 13 years, Coverage College has provided an opportunity for insurance professionals to engage in a rigorous study of a diverse insurance coverage curriculum.
Michael Olsan, Chair of the Commercial Litigation Department, kicked off the event with a welcome to students and introduction of the opening session, "Insurance Operations in a Cyber World," a panel discussion with Joshua Mooney, Richard Borden and Mark Greisiger, President, NetDiligence®.
The College offered twelve Masters Classes on topics including the cyber and technology insurance landscape, implications of global climate change for the insurance industry, recent issues in punitive damages, the current status of long-tail coverage, the impact of the #MeToo movement on employment claims, and M&A shareholder litigation and the origins of the “Bump-Up” claim.
In addition to the Masters Classes, the College featured an afternoon discussion with nationally known policyholder attorney Helen Michael of Blank Rome who explained the many ways insurance companies can increase their chances of being sued for bad faith, and Arch Insurance Company Deputy General Counsel Regan Shulman who discussed the many ways that companies can avoid bad faith. Randy Maniloff closed out the day with a discussion of CGL policy provisions and issues that are unique, nuanced and subject to different interpretations in "Road Trip Through the CGL Policy."
The annual insurance industry educational program was celebrated throughout the day as students networked with one another as well as the College's faculty and exhibiting sponsors.
